Two-Book Contract Signed with Louisiana Publisher
It was good to return to Louisiana to make some happy memories. On February 15 at Houmas House Estate and Gardens, I signed a two-book deal with my publisher. It was a beautiful day and the setting was stunning.
Michelle Jester, of Rope Swing Publishing, was onsite for the contract signings and it was meaningful to sign in the same space where I have made so many wonderful life memories. My husband and I exchanged our vows at Houmas House under the Burnside Oak in July of 2014. In previous years, I spent time on property in the honeymoon cottage, writing articles about Louisiana travel for various magazines.
There’s no firm timeline on publication for these books, as I’m still doing my personal edits before submitting the final copy over for the remainder of the process. For those who can’t wait until then to read my stories, I’m pleased to announce I have a chapter in a Women’s book tentatively due for release at the end of April.
The story is somewhat travel themed, about a road trip where I make a very big life decision and the events that led up to that moment. It is raw, it is honest, and it gives those who know me a deeper look into the how and why I made this major life choice. I cried while writing it, I cried while editing it. It definitely was healing to put the words on paper.
I’ll admit, while I’m excited, I’m nervous about this Women’s book and also my two-book deal. Sharing personal stories is well…. personal. Vulnerable. Scary. Hopefully by me sharing my story, I’ll help someone else navigate their own journey.
And I’m really glad that this recent visit to Louisiana was a turning point filled with positivity. No matter where in the world I hang my hat, Louisiana will always be home.
