Palm Beach International Boat Show: A First Look at Luxury on the Water
There’s something about stepping into a world you don’t fully expect… and then realizing it’s even bigger, shinier, and more immersive than you imagined.
That was my first impression of the Palm Beach International Boat Show.
James had a bit of time off work, and I had the opportunity to cover the show for one of my outlets before we headed off to Louisiana to spend time with our grandbabies. With a tight schedule, we opted for Preview Day, a decision I would absolutely recommend if you ever find yourself in a similar position.
But here’s the thing: even with early access, this show is massive.

Plan Ahead. This Is Not a One-Day Event
If you’re considering attending, let me offer my first piece of advice:
give yourself multiple days.
We barely scratched the surface.
Between the sprawling docks, the luxury yachts, the exhibit tents (and yes, even food booths scattered throughout) it’s the kind of event that invites you to linger. Grab a bite, sip something cold, and take it all in at your own pace. Next year, we’re already planning a longer visit.
And a practical note – parking is at a premium. Expect to spend anywhere from $50–$80 per day, depending on proximity and timing. It’s one of those “cost of entry” realities for an event of this caliber.
Champagne & Craftsmanship: A Hinckley Moment
Before arriving, I had heard whispers that unless you had appointments, access to many of the boats would be limited.
So, naturally, I made one.
I’ve long admired Hinckley Yachts, particularly their iconic picnic boats, which feel perfectly suited for life in Maine. With a new model debuting, it was the perfect excuse to step inside that world.
And yes… there was Veuve Clicquot involved.

While sipping champagne dockside, we explored the boats on display, and I was reminded why these vessels have such a devoted following. They aren’t flashy in an over-the-top way. Instead, they are refined, elegant, and thoughtfully designed.
For me, a picnic boat represents an ideal on-the-water experience:
- Comfortable lounge space
- A proper bathroom (a must)
- A cozy berth for an afternoon nap
- And perhaps most importantly… a wine bar and cooler

Sailboats may have their romance, but they also come with a fair bit of work. A Hinckley picnic boat? That’s effortless luxury. And I’ll admit…. it’s very much my jam.

Note: Hinckley unveiled The Picnic Boat 45. Read more about it on Hinckley’s official website.
Beyond the Boats: Unexpected Finds
Of course, the show isn’t just about boats.
As we wandered through the exhibits, a few unexpected discoveries caught my attention, like a German-made system called silwy, designed to keep glassware and dishes in place using magnets. If you’ve ever watched a drink slide across a table on the water, you’ll understand why this felt like pure genius.
And honestly? This feels like something that belongs beyond boats. RVs, yes. But I couldn’t help but think… this might be a game-changer for private jets, too. (James, take note.)

Then there were the docks themselves, lined with everything from sleek day boats to towering mega yachts, each listing its own set of stats:
- Vessel size
- Number of staterooms
- Crew capacity
Some were available for purchase, while others were being marketed for charter, offering a glimpse into a lifestyle where your next vacation could quite literally float.
Beyond that, the show had a bit of everything:
- High-end vehicles (some built with security in mind, others built for speed)
- Fishing lodges and marina services
- Destination booths, including the islands of The Bahamas
It’s less of a boat show and more of a lifestyle showcase centered around the water.

A Late Lunch Escape at Bradley’s
While there were plenty of food booths throughout the show, James and I decided to step just outside the entry gates for a proper sit-down break.
We made our way to Bradley’s, a spacious, open-air restaurant overlooking the marina—one of those easy, breezy spots where you can settle in, exhale, and watch the boats drift by.
It was the perfect reset.
A late lunch, a bit of people-watching, and a moment to take it all in before heading back home to Florida to prepare for our early morning flight the next day. Sometimes, it’s those quiet pauses in between the excitement that end up being just as memorable.

Final Thoughts: A World Worth Exploring
The Palm Beach International Boat Show surprised me… in the best possible way.
It’s immersive, aspirational, and undeniably impressive. Whether you’re seriously in the market, dreaming a little, or simply curious, there’s something about being surrounded by these vessels and the people who bring them to life that draws you in.
Next time, I’ll stay longer. Wander slower. Step aboard a few more boats.
And maybe (just maybe) spend a little more time lingering near the champagne.
To plan your visit to the Palm Beach International Boat Show, visit their official website and book your nearby lodging early. We stayed the night before about an hour away. The cost can skyrocket for hotels and resorts nearby the event.
